About Impulsive Walrus
Impulsive Walrus Books is a small press publisher of fantasy and science fiction run by Frog and Esther Jones.
If you've met Frog and Esther at a convention or other places, you may already know they are total geeks, published writers, and full-time professionals. And of course, publishers.
Our Story
Frog and Esther fell into publishing much like they did writing. They'd always had an interest in it, but their friends fanned that spark into something much bigger.
Or really, Frog told a story about cows, a catapult, and a coconut to a bunch of authors at a book launch party for Sanan Kolva . By the end of Frog's story, a room full of authors all wanted to take two lines that story and write their very own unique cow opus.
And then Frog spoke the words, "We can do an anthology! I'll edit it." He turned to Esther with a hopeful gleam in his eye, fueled by congratulatory cake, and said, "We can publish that, right?"
Esther looked at the crowd of sugar-buzzed friends, and said, "Sure! Why not! We can figure it out." Much cheering and further chaos ensued. And figure it out we did, with "Well... It's Your Cow: an Anecdotal anthology," continuing to be a fan favorite to this day.
Our Vision
While I'd love to say our vision is to support creative efforts of all kinds to make them sustainable and accessible for all, as you may guess, that inaugural anthology really sets the stage for us to not take ourselves to seriously-- So I'll just say, if an idea is creative and fun, we're here for it.
Since 2018, Impulsive Walrus Books has been finding and publishing stories that we love. Our goal is to always to tell fun, quirky stories you can't find any where else, and make it hard for you to put the story back down -- while supporting our fellow authors, artists, and other creatives. We firmly believe it is better laugh, even at the darkest of times, because laughter feeds creativity. Thank you for coming on this journey with us.
