Invitation:
Fey and Loathing

If you've been linked to this page, it's because Impulsive Walrus invites you to its next anthology:  Fey and Loathing.

For years, journalists believed that they should not put themselves into the story they were reporting.  Then Hunter S. Thompson came along and turned this concept on its head.  "Gonzo" journalism, as he called it, placed the reporter in the center of the action as a lens through which the audience could view the events.

Now, we're going to do the same thing with speculative fiction.

For our next quirky anthology release, we're going to ask for some Gonzo Fiction.  The fact is, as spec fic authors, not a day goes by where we don't see something supernatural or science fiction-y happening behind the scenes of what we see.  There are gremlins in our computer cases.  The fey are messing with our cars.  And aliens are joy-riding in cloaked ships above us.  We know this to be true, and it's our inspiration for everything we do.

Time to let audiences in on it in a more direct fashion than ever.  We're asking our authors to put themselves into their fiction.

Impulsive Walrus is looking for short stories of 2,000-5,000 words in which you--the author--are the perspective character.  You don't have to be the protagonist (Watson narrates Holmes, after all).  We're not looking for just a fictional first-person narrator.  We're looking for you to put yourself into a speculative fiction situation.

     - Stories should be 2,000 - 5,000 words
     - Stories must be in the first-person
     - Stories must be semi-autobiographical.  The narrator in the story should be the author themselves, and not a narrated character.
     -  Stories must involve a (presumably fictional) account of a fantasy/supernatural/science fiction thing happening to the author.
     -  The author should end the story in a condition to still be at their next convention appearance and passing as a normal human.  In other words, no killing yourself or otherwise permanently removing yourself from the planet/timeline/etc, unless of course you replace yourself with a doppelganger that can take over your authorly duties,
