First off, Glen Must Die went well! We're super proud of how that book turned out and hard at work on fulfillment. If you missed the Kickstarter, you'll have to wait before you, too, will be able to kill Glen. Plans are also in the works to reveal Glen Must Die to...well, to Glen, who still has no clue what we've done or how many people know about it.

AND something even more exciting has come out of Glen Must Die! Paul Jenkins and Impulsive Walrus Books enjoyed working together so much that we're pleased to announce our next joint project: A Fiction Squad Hardcover Omnibus Edition!

What is Fiction Squad?

Fiction Squad is set in the magical world of Fablewood, where every story ever told resides.

In the village of Rimes, the nursery rhymes and fairy tales told by mothers to their children were supposed to live in harmony.  That was the plan--but the founders of Rimes forgot to account for one thing.

Every nursery rhyme is a crime scene.

Enter Frankie Mack.  Frankie's not from Rimes--he's from the land of crime fiction, and he comes from a thirty-page hard-boiled detective noir story that never really got off the ground.  He's moved to Rimes and joined the squad there, devoting himself to solving who pushed Humpty Dumpty, sleuthing out why someone busted up Jack & Jill's water-smuggling ring, and using Pinocchio as a living lie detector.

Fiction Squad is just...Guys, it's really good. Paul Jenkins can walk the line of being simultaneously dramatic and hilarious like a tightrope walker over Niagara. And the incredible art of Ramon Bachs brings the world of Fablewood to life.

I got into this business because stories are important. They're special to me. On one hand, fiction writes that which is untrue. But on the other hand, fiction writes more truth than reality. It's pure ideas, imagination unrestrained by our physical prisons.

Fablewood brings this idea to life. It is a world in which humanity's collective imaginations interact with each other, and the result is nothing short of joyous.

The six issues of fiction squad originally appeared in 2014. They have been out of print ever since. Now, Impulsive Walrus Books is proud to bring this work back to life as a single, hard cover omnibus edition collecting all six issues into a single volume, and giving you Detective Frankie's story from beginning to end.

This hardcover edition will be done as a print run with sewn-bindings, full-color interiors on quality paper, and a premium cover that is still in development.

This is our first foray into the world of graphic novels. It's a new "page" for Impulsive Walrus Books. (DAD JOKE sorry-not-sorry). Fablewood as a world just represents everything that Impulsive Walrus Books believes: Stories are real and have a life of their own. And now we invite you to a place where they all interact and play off each other. So where can you sign up to follow the Fiction Squad campaign? Click this link to follow the campaign on backerkit!
